D21 Spring Conference Update: March 28-18

Have you created your path yet? Imagine the possibilities.

With Toastmasters International’s new Pathways educational program having kicked off a week ago in D21, Toastmasters from around the district are intently choosing their paths.

Months ago, when the D21 Spring Conference Committee for 2018 was brainstorming for conference themes, we decided to build upon the excitement and momentum that we anticipated with the new Pathways Program.

While the Pathways Program has multiple paths, we decided to limit our choices to five that we felt encapsulated the best.

When you register for the conference you will be asked to make a selection from the following five paths:

  • Public Speaking + Interpersonal Communication
  • Interpersonal Communication + Strategic Leadership
  • Interpersonal Communication + Management
  • Public Speaking + Management
  • Public Speaking + Strategic Leadership

Your selection will then be featured on your conference name badge allowing you to recognize your fellow travellers.

Toastmasters conferences are a great place to network … to meet old friends and to make new connections. Be prepared to speak about why you chose your path. Why does it resonate with you? Reach out to your fellow conference attendees and ask them about their path. It can be a great icebreaker.

We’re also asking you to imagine the possibilities. Not just anybody’s possibilities but yours.

“The potential of the average person is like a huge ocean unsailed, a new continent unexplored, a world of possibilities waiting to be released and channeled toward some great good.” — Brian Tracy

Here’s what Pope John XXIII had to say about possibilities … “Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do.”

Toastmasters helps create possibilities.

Join your fellow Toastmaster pathfinders at the D21 Spring conference in Kelowna. Imagine the possibilities …

Back by popular demand … a Silent Auction will be held throughout the conference.

Actually, it was the conference committee that demanded it! Our district conferences are expensive events to organize and run. Our Silent Auctions are a great way to raise funds to offset some of the costs of the conference.

Besides that, they are fun … if not competitive!

If you would like to donate a goodie-basket or perhaps re-gift a ‘special’ gift that doesn’t have a place in your home anymore, contact our Silent Auction Chair Mary-Lou Bailey and she can provide you with more information. marylou.bailey40@gmail.com

For the successful bidders, we take cash, cheques or major credit cards via Square (VISA, Mastercard, AMEX). Sorry, no debit.

D21 Spring Conference 2018 Update: March 20-2018

Toastmasters with Benefits: Reasons to Attend the D21 Conference.

Sure, we can tell you that if you attend a District conference you will be motivated, inspired, challenged and re-energized. We can tell you that, as it is true. Just ask any long-time Toastmaster member that regularly goes to conferences.

That’s what draws them back conference after conference.

In fact, that very reason is what has drawn long-time member Doug Anderson DTM to our conferences. Doug is a Past District 21 Governor, has been our D21 Auditor for many years and has served as the host for many of our conference hospitality suites. D21 is well known for the quality and fun of its hospitality suites, conference after conference.

Doug and his company Pacific First Dental & Healthcare Plans, have also sponsored many hospitality suites.

This spring conference reaches a significant milestone for Doug, in that this will be the 85th conference that he has attended in D21. Yes, you read that right! 85 conferences!

Will this be your first conference … or are you keeping up to Doug?

If you are new to Toastmasters and especially the world of Toastmastering outside your club, here is a quick overview.

You will be kept busy from Friday afternoon until Sunday at noon. You will hear seasoned motivational speakers as well as attend thought-provoking educational sessions presented by some of our seasoned Toastmasters. You will have loads of time to interact and network with fellow Toastmasters from around our district. And some from out of the province and our country.

You won’t go hungry. We have gourmet-style meals planned throughout the conference.

You won’t be bored. If you still have energy by the time the evening rolls around, we have entertainment for you. Friday evening features a special entertainment activity facilitated by Kelowna Toastmasters. Saturday evening brings an after-dinner party and then a dance. Oh, and don’t forget our Hospitality Suites. Another great opportunity to meet new Toastmaster friends or catch up with long-time friends.

Register now at http://d21springconference.ca/registration/ and save $20.00. Full conference price will be in effect on April 1st.

Will we see you there?

~~~
What would your life be like today? Look how far you’ve come from that first day you walked through the door and experienced your first meeting.
We are searching for new club ideas and opportunities to share the transformation Toastmasters provides to more people in more corners of our District. Do you have a brilliant idea for a new club? Maybe it’s a
  • advanced club that can help members in your Area or Division accelerate their personal or professional growth;
  • specialty club that could serve a niche market or help members achieve a specific goal; or
  • corporate club in a company with 250+ employees
Send your club idea RIGHT AWAY to our Club Extension Chair, Gene Vickers. If your club is fully chartered before end of day June 14th, and you will become the proud owner of one of these swanky Toastmasters branded Hooded Long Sleeve T-Shirt (They are sweeeeet!)
