WOW! If you attended the international convention last week, you were in for a rare treat that most of us will never see again; an amazing program of education, leadership, great speakers and camaraderie in our own home. I learned so much in the leadership training on Monday and Tuesday (you really should run for a district trio position as that level of training is invaluable); and then the education sessions during the convention itself were just incredible. In addition, there were the leadership meetings and opportunities to interview current and potential leaders; where you could meet those who will be taking Toastmasters forward over the next few years.
I don’t think I ever appreciated the global impact of Toastmasters until I met so many people from so many countries. That in and of itself was worth the price of admission. Now, I have to review the pages of notes and withdraw the gems that I learned and will discuss with the rest of the district executive how we can implement those gems within our District. One thing on the top of my mind is what we will do in 2018 for the fall suite of Humorous and Table Topic speech contests; and I heard some great ideas at the convention from other Program Quality Directors. We will have options to review at our fall conference in Victoria November 10, 11 & 12.
